Unreal Mini-mini Game

Started off with a completely blank scene. Added a directional light, skybox, and floor. Attached the skybox to the light. Set up the axis and action inputs in the project settings. Created a new character with just a camera and capsule, and game mode to use the character.

Got stuck because the axis events weren't showing up in the character blueprint. Turns out I just had to reopen the project. Then setup all the movement.

Then I created a box out of cubes and set the glass material on each. I then modified the Sparks blueprint a little, placed some inside the cube, and set some things in the level blueprint.

First Group Meeting

First Meeting:

Met at Sweet Shop at 12:15, Wednesday 9/14/2016.

Our group meeting started off with talking about genres we like and would want for our game, and the roles we would fill. Aaron likes sci-fi, fantasy and zombie horror. He enjoys story telling and has some experience with programming. Kimber likes puzzle games and she has worked with blender and mathematical programming. Kallia likes horror and survival types, and has experience with blender and music creation.

We shared our ideas for the game and brainstormed whether or not they would be doable and fun. We haven't yet decided on a final idea but we have a good list to choose from. Most involving horror or survival where it is a singleplayer experience in a large setting. I see from Kallia's post that she would rather not give up our ideas so I will follow suit. I would say all of our ideas our doable but time constraints and the free asset cap limits our imaginations. I personally think the asset cap should be higher so we can have more time getting the actual mechanics of the game running.

Series of in-engine renders. Models made in 3DS Max and
textured in Substance Painter.

Games:

One of my favorite games has to be Skyrim. I'm a huge nerd for fantasy and Skyrim was the best escape for me to spend countless hours playing. I even bought again to play on PC with mods.

Another favorite has to be Bioshock Infinite. It took story telling and AI mechanics to a whole new level. Probably one of the few games where I actually felt for the characters portrayed.
